About the Designer
Rachel Park is a cutting-edge fashion accessories designer on the brink of taking her brand, Rachel Park Designs, to the next level within the high-end retail market.
The South Korea native was a natural at sewing and grew up in the Midwest region of the United States making clothes for family and friends. Her love of gifting relatives with handmade designs became a way to express creativity but the shy kid never thought that her passion would lead to anything more than just a hobby.
During her teenage years, she began to look for a direction that would lead to a credible career in corporate America. Although Rachel’s quiet personality urged fitting in with her peers, it was her out-of-the-box imagination that pushed against the idea of working for others in a mundane office setting. While at school, Rachel noticed her friend wearing shorts that she created. The pure excitement from seeing her garment was all the encouragement she needed to pursue a career as an entrepreneur and fashion designer.
As an unbounded dream of a career in fashion took shape, she enrolled as a student to sharpen her self-taught skills in fashion design. Rachel’s college years also allowed her to study abroad at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Spain. Through her travels and social encounters, it was then that Rachel’s design aesthetic began to take shape as the budding designer began to notice how limited wardrobe choices were for men. She started to consult with friends and associates to determine how her talents could be helpful within men’s fashion and quickly noted that there was a lack of focus within men’s neckwear. Using her kitchen as a workspace that was equipped with nothing more than a sewing machine and a card table, Rachel Park Designs was created with the intent to give fashion-forward men the option of choosing exquisitely detailed, handmade accessories of the highest quality.
In 2005, with a will to focus on the art of men’s accessories and fashion design, Rachel moved from Chicago to New York City. Today, Rachel Park Designs’ signature ties can be seen on both men and women alike. Rachel’s original designs continuously fuse her Asian culture with her now distinctly Brooklyn style.
About the Designs
Inspired by the need for men’s neckwear and frustrated with the humdrum selection available, the idea of Rachel Park Designs was born. But she initally faced a bit of an uphill battle. With most office attire being business casual, ties were no longer a part of the standard daily uniform. Unfazed, she persevered in her goal to always make ties that they actually wanted to wear.
Blending exciting colors, striking textures, bold prints, and contrast linings with an old wardrobe staple, her unique ties soon dared men not to conform. Sure, they had to wear one — but why not have some fun doing it? Male expression finally had a voice. Suddenly, the suit never had it so good.
Ladies everywhere soon began to take notice and wondered where they could buy their own Rachel Park Designs. Who says women can’t wear ties? In response, she produced a line of ties just for her featuring vivid colors and dynamic prints. More feminine in fabric, shorter, and skinnier than their standard male counterpart, her ties just for the ladies bring colorful style to that serious suit or favorite pair of dark jeans. Whether worn as a tie or belt, these versatile accessories go everywhere she does. Known for their vibrant colors, bold prints, distinctive textures, and ability to accent any outfit, Rachel Park Designs designer ties for him or for her belong in every wardrobe.
